Sunday in the Metro

LRT - Peaceful
Today's Sunday and I went out to get out our parked car to a friend's house which is one 8 peso jeepney ride and a 23 peso tricycle ride away.  What I just wanted to share was the noticeably less people and vehicles throughout my way.  Peaceful and non-stressing, less noise and air pollution. I love it.  It reminds of my summer childhood days where the city has less people and the weather is as warm where time is slow and play is easy to get.

What part of your childhood you would like to share?

NBI Clearance in the Philippines

I am applying for a new job.  Here in the Philippines, almost all companies would need to check your criminal record through what is called the NBI Clearance. NBI stands for National Bureau of Investigation is an agency of the Philippine government under the Department of Justice, responsible for handling and solving major high profile cases that are in the interest of the nation. The NBI Clearance is a two copy document containing relevant personal information such as the name, date of birth, address, thumbprints, photo of the requester and the criminal record, if there is.

Like all governments offices I have been to, this one is as bad. In my experience, it's only the Tax Collection offices that are really nice with short lines, plenty seats,  air conditioned areas, and in Las Pinas office, free coffee with classical music pumping in the background.  I live in the south area of the metro wherein the Muntinlupa and Las Pinas branches are equally near to me.  I went to the Muntinlupa branch as advised by sister since she went to the Las Pinas City hall branch last December and there's none.

Things I learned in 8 years of my career

I was always lacking time to do things but to get something done, to me, the most important step is to start it.  Here I am, starting a new blog which will serve as my diary and reflections in life.

I was inspired to what I just read just this morning on a blog post which you can find here.  It is called "18 Things I Wish Someone Told Me When I Was 18". The author was listing advises that might helped him when he was at that age.

I was inspired by the post since I will be applying for a new job and it kept me wondering, how was I doing with my career and how is my future?   Here are some things I've learned which I had based on his article.

1.  Forgive your mistakes - He mentioned to commit ourselves to making many mistakes.  Yes, it is true especially when we've done our best for that choice.  If there's a decision or move that you regret in the past,  accept that it is because during that time, we know, we did our best for that.  We're only human and its through those mistakes we learn the best.  Mistakes that are one of the most painful, are also the ones who gives life long lessons.  Those career related mistakes could be choosing the right college degree, company, job, things you said on an interview, things you could have done better, not taking risks, taking too much risks, and etc.  It is just recently that I forgive myself for all things I did and never did.
